Our culture is what defines and differentiates us, but development and investment is what we do. Fueled by a team of purpose-driven high performers, 68 Ventures has completed over one hundred projects, developed over 10,000 lots, constructed more than 3,400 homes, built hundreds of millions of dollars worth of commercial jobs, deployed well over a billion dollars in capital across multiple asset classes, and successfully started, acquired, or exited over twenty operating companies.
Our Story
We believe that God has a plan for our lives, but we must do our part. The path has not been a straight road laced with sunshine, but we are thankful for every storm, each gut punch, because without them we wouldn’t be where we are or most importantly who we are.
68 Ventures was officially formed in 2016, but it all began in 2008 when our Founder and Chairman, Nathan Cox, launched Bellator Real Estate & Development.
Having recently returned home from serving in the Marines, he elected to follow in the footsteps of his hero and father, a developer who pioneered Baldwin County, and pursue a career centered around real estate. One would think embarking on the entrepreneurial journey amidst the onset of the Great Recession would be a fool’s errand, but the timing couldn’t have been more fortuitous. Opportunities were everywhere for those with the conviction that the Gulf Coast’s best days were ahead and the courage to take the shot. Nathan began assembling investment groups to acquire distressed assets and then put in place operating businesses, to monetize the assets. Truland Homes, the one most vital to this vertical integration strategy, was established in 2011 and later sold to the nation’s largest homebuilder, D.R. Horton, in 2023.

Gulf Coast Opportunities Fund, a $61MM private equity real estate fund, is introduced in partnership with Bienville Capital.

Battle Plan Capital is created to own and operate Bellator Real Estate & Development and Truland Homes.

Nathan’s passion has never been running a business of any kind, but rather it is being a part of something bigger than himself.
He loves the challenge of it all. He craves the esprit de corps that can only be forged through hard times when the bullets are flying and all you have is each other. Often, he can be heard saying that everything that has provided him fulfillment in his life was miserable at the time. Today, nothing makes him smile bigger than pushing those around him to accomplish more than what they think they are capable of and challenging them to bet on themselves.
What’s your 68?
The phrase, “What’s Your 68” is derived from the jersey number worn by hockey legend Jaromir Jagr. Jagr’s grandfather was killed in 1968 during the Russian invasion of Czechoslovakia, so he wore the number 68 to honor his grandfather and his entire country every time he took the ice. Jagr was great because he didn’t play for money or medals—he played for his family and his country. We take great pride in challenging not only one another, but also everyone we work with to seek out, identify and pursue their own 68. What’s your 68?
